Social Therapy Groups
Ages 5-8: this group will meet every other week and focus on the a variety of developmental issues that can often affect children and their ability to socialize appropriately. This group will be facilitated by Daniel Weiner, MA LPC.
Ages 12-14: this group will meet every other week and will focus on the difficultyof middle school years and how various social issues impact young adolescents.This group will be facilitated by Daniel Weiner, MA LPC
Adolescent Therapy Groups
Ages 15-18: this group will work with specific adolescents struggling withemotional/behavioral issues and will assist them with coping skill development,emotion/cognition exploration and management, as well as clarification regarding their specific mental health issues. This group will be facilitatedby Geoff Genser, LCSW.
Substance Abuse Treatment Group: this group meets weekly with teenagers who are interested in changing their substance use patterns. They will receive accurate information about the impact of their drug use on their minds and bodies and will have a supportive environment for talking about ways to realize change. This group is facilitated by Geoff Genser, LCSW and Marc Lehman, LMFT.
Parent Support Groups
Parents of Substance Abusing Teens: This group meets monthly to address the challenges of parenting adolescents with substance abusing problems. Parents are educated about healthy limits and boundaries to set for their kids and ways to access necessary services. Most importantly, parents are offered support by other parents who often feel alone and very isolated as they try to manage this difficult family problem. This group is run by Geoff Genser,LCSW.
HiFADD: High Functioning Autism and Developmental Delays: We will have our first meeting on Wednesday, July 7th from 7pm to 8:30. This group will continue to meet the first Wednesday of each month from 7-8:30 pm. This support group is for parents, other adult family members, as well as caregivers who are in need of support due to the unique demands of helping to raise children and/or adolescents with high functioning autism or other developmental delays that affect their social and emotional functioning and well being. Groups will consist of open discussion, as well as occasional guest speakers to discuss specific topics and address questions about a variety of issues. Meetings will be facilitated by Daniel Weiner, MA LPC and Denise Scheuy, MA, COTA/L. Membership is available but not required to attend meetings.
